Satisfied that the fleet present had all checked in as still under the agreement terms, and that his cargo from Eshan had been properly brought down to the planetary base, Decivus and Parha depart from Tansarii Point Station aboard the Hazmat and go down to inspect the base itself. To the Sith's approval, and relief, the base was not merely a single structure, as with Ralltiir, Eshan, and Tatooine. No, the Black Sun base was essentially all of Ord Mantell City. Once, almost 70 or so standard years ago, the city had been destroyed. But since then, it has been rebuilt and equipped to handle orbital strikes and sieges.
Parha looks on in amazement at the sight. All around the city is barren wasteland; and with good reason. Much of the rest of the world hosts junk, though not nearly on the level of Raxus Prime.
"The Black Sun has its own city?" Parha breathes in surprise.
"Officially, it belongs to the Ord Mantell government." Decivus chortles at the idea. "But the Black Sun commands this city."
"Well, as long as no one points a gun at us." Parha sighs.
"Here? No, you needn't worry about that." Decivus replies. "This base will play an important role in my plans."
Parha looks at her husband.
"Care to share those plans?" Parha asks, gesturing all around with her arms. "No here besides me now."
"Not all, but one." Decivus shrugs. "Viszla said that the Black Sun is not a military, which is quite true. And as history will show, every time a foe with an army appears, the Black Sun falls. Only once in its history has the Black Sun been able to reasonably fight back. Ironically, that was when an Iridorian named Maul ruled and had the allegiance of the Viszla Clan. I will convince the other Vigos that it is in their best interest to have a single, dedicated militant force, just in case rivals become too bold."
The Hazmat approaches the larger hanger, hovering over it briefly before settling down in place. Together, the Sith and Twi'lek make their way through the base. There is an abundance of human and Falleen, but very few of any other race. By the time the two complete an inspection of the city, several hours had passed. The pair retreat to the main central structure, and take refuge in their new quarters. Clearly, Vigos before him had a very expensive, and comfortable, tastes. The room was apparently reserved for Alexi Guri, but had been left alone since his death. The two take their time acclimating, and cleaning up. Before long, Parha is sleeping in the large bed, and Decivus has moved into the main chambers. There, perhaps for the first time in a long time, Decivus sits down to listen and discuss the Black Sun's current situation, and how it has been affecting business. Some of the loss resulted from the Black Sun's apparent inability to protect itself, hampering the image of resurgent strength Decivus has been trying to show in the underworld.
"All in all, Vigo Guinn, the attacks make us look vulnerable." a Falleen expresses with irritation. "We look weak, and now our rivals have tasted blood. If we do not prove that we are capable of protecting our shipments and our bases, we will lose everything."
"I have Viszla gathering intelligence on the issue." Decivus assures the Falleen with a laid back tone. "We already know the who, and soon we will have a where. And once we do, I will personally ensure that the ones responsible do not bother us again."
"A fine promise, if you can deliver." the Falleen retorts. Decivus suppresses the urge to snap the alien's neck.
"I told Alexi Guri I would rebuild the Black Sun greater than ever. I consider this issue merely a test." Decivus growls back. "Hutts, pirates, Pykes, all of the underworld will once more respect and fear the name Black Sun. Of that, you may rest assured."
"As you've no doubt heard before, we are not an army. We are not mercenaries." the Falleen says, raising a scaly brow.
"No, we aren't. Which is why we are so easy to push around. But not for long." the young Sith tells the alien cryptically. "I intend to make full use of the alliances I have forged. In time, no one will question my rule."
The humans and Falleen present exchange looks, but nod in agreement to his words. For the rest of the meeting, Decivus continues discussing new routes and potential clients. Now, all that remains is for Wez and Fi to arrive with the information he seeks. From there, the young Sith would make his plans to counter the Hutt and his mercenaries. A human enters the expansive room while Decivus looks over a report of Ord Mantell City's stock and defensive capabilities.
More good news. Cousland's Heritage, the Super Star Destroyer belonging to Admiral Nick Cousland, and commanded by Commander Ors, has returned to its position in orbit. In the coming hours, as word spreads that the ship was part of the alliance with the Republic Remnants, more faith in Decivus' capabilities as the leader seems to strengthen. Much, of course, to Decivus' pleasure...
